POLITICS: Obama’s Troubling Connections to ACORN
Posted by bobsikes under Uncategorized

Community activist organization, ACORN, has a long history with voter fraud. So does Barack Obama. This Investors Business Daily editorial details his history with the notorius group.

In 1995, Illinois Gov. Jim Edgar balked at implementing the federal motor voter law out of concern that letting people register via postcard and blocking the state from pruning voter rolls might invite vote fraud.

A young lawyer, a community organizer himself, sued on behalf of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (Acorn) and won. The young lawyer was Barack Obama. Acorn later invited Obama to train its staff.

When Obama served on the board of the Woods Fund for Chicago with Weather Underground terrorist William Ayers, the Woods Fund frequently gave Acorn grants to fund its agenda and voter registration activities.

Acorn has been in the lead in opposing voter ID laws and other efforts to ensure ballot integrity. Acorn has been implicated in voter fraud and bogus registration schemes in Ohio and at least 13 other states. Acorn staffers will presumably be out registering voters again this year.

With voter fraud being investigated in Alabama now and with ACORN being connected with voter fraud in Pennsylvania republicans are understandably concerned.

ACORN is a organization that works largely in urban, lower income areas and call themselves and advocate on housing and earners issues. But in actuality they serve leftist causes such as being against big box stores such as Wal Mart. But they also have been linked with illegal union activity. Their fraudulant voting activities serve Democrats as they did in the run-up to the 2004 election.

This research done by the Employment Policy Institute details some ACORN voter fraud activities:

• In August 2004, election officials in Albuquerque, NM, discovered that an ACORN employee, Christina Gonzales, registered a 13-year-old boy to vote. This registration was only discovered by the boy’s mother when a voter card showed up in the mail. The card contained an incorrect social security number, a fabricated birthday, and only a partially correct address. ACORN’s actions led New Mexico State Representative Joe Thompson to state that they were “manufacturing voters” throughout New Mexico. Interestingly, while Gonzales was fired by ACORN, it was not for manufacturing voters, but rather for claiming credit for registration cards submitted by other employees.

• During a traffic stop in Minnesota, police found more than 300 voter registration cards in the car trunk of 19-year-old Joshua Reed, a former ACORN employee.6 The cards were weeks and even months old, despite the fact that the law requires they be submitted to the secretary of state within 10 days of being filled out and signed.

The EPI study indicates that ACORN umbrellas other names such as political action committees such as Floridians for All or Project Voting. The later was the organization involved with the fall of Teamster President Ron Carey who arranged $175,000 in union money in return for reciprocal contributions.

With Senator Obama’s role in training ACORN staff and in his previous work as a community organizer, its understandable some would make the leap to Obama’s having knowledge of voter fraud. His record on voter registration issues parallels that of ACORN. The groups advocacy for a “living wage” is also Obama’s.

LAS VEGAS — Nevada state authorities are raiding the Las Vegas headquarters of an organization that works to get low-income people to vote.

A Nevada secretary of state's office spokesman said Tuesday that investigators are looking for evidence of voter fraud at the office of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, also called ACORN.

No one was at the ACORN office when state agents arrived with a search warrant and began carting records and documents away.

Secretary of State spokesman Bob Walsh says ACORN is accused of submitting multiple voter registrations with false and duplicate names.

The raid comes two months after state and federal authorities formed a task force to pursue election-fraud allegations in Nevada.

This ACORN story is completely trumped up. See http://fightthesmears.com/articles/20/acornrumor?source=sem-pm-fts-ac-search-us&gclid=COaa0JnWuZYCFQJ-xgodqx9nLA

for more information.

Don't John McCain and his supporters have anything better to do than promote stories as weak as this? It's not all that different from Willie Horton ads against Dukakis. Let's all get scared because he has an unusual and "foreign" sounding name. And because he is black?

It's about time this was exposed as the racism it is.
