Palin Makes Dirty Trick Editing ABC and Outright Lying Gibson Look Bad

http://jacklewis.net/weblog/archives/2008/09/the_gibson_inte.php

-In part two of the interview, Gibson open with an outright lie, quoting half a sentence from a speech Palin gave at her old church. He falsely claims that she said the Iraq war is of God. What she had said was that we should pray for our leaders, that their decision to go to war is of God. Gibson kept insisting that the half sentences he was questioning her about were "exact quotes". Anyone with one eye and half sense knows that quoting half a sentence is not an "exact quote". But Gibson's outrageous behavior is only beginning.

-Another dirty trick ABC used was editing her replies to make her answers seem inadequate. Gibson's second question is followed by a cut, with Palin then already in mid answer, giving the illusion that she was avoiding his question. In fact the edits throughout the interview were so unprofessional, I would have expected better of high school students working on a class project. (remember I have a degree in broadcasting and have worked professionally in television)

-The "Bush Doctrine" is one of those faddish terms coined a few years ago to define Bush's rational for the war in Afghanistan and Iraq. The term "Bush Doctrine" is used primarily by Liberals. So when Gibson sprang the term on Palin, it's natural that she would be unfamiliar with the vocabulary from the ideologically-incestuous vacuum on the political and media elite.

-Apparently feed back about how bad ABC and Charles Gibson looked with their dishonest attempts at interrogating Palin reach them, because the third part of the interview, aired during Nightline, was exceptionally brief.

The Gibson Interrogation: A bag full of dirty tricks

Charles Gibson, ABC grandfatherly news anchor, morphed into an arrogant, condescending pig in front of a national audience last night. From the repeating of the same question over and over again, to the condescending scowl to the annoying foot twirling, he did everything he could to communicate his disdain for Sarah Palin.

From the side shots you can compare the postures of the two. Sarah Palin leaning slightly forward to emphasize attention and respect (albeit in a bit too much of a slouch), Charles Gibson, leaning back, looking down his nose at Palin in a posture reminiscent of a principle disciplining a wayward schoolgirl. Gibson was obviously ready to use every dirty trick at his disposal, and he did so with relish.

His first question was insulting, "Did she hesitate when McCain asked her to be VP?" Palin had to answer the question three times, each time asked with increasing sarcasm from Gibson.

Another dirty trick ABC used was editing her replies to make her answers seem inadequate.

The third question was completely asinine. "Did you ever travel outside the United states prior to your trip to Kuwait and Germany last year?"

With the rectal exam Palin and her family have gone through, courtesy of the MSM, Gibson knew darn well she'd been out of the country before, but wanted the question asked to try to mock her. Sometimes, it's not the answer, but the question asked that sends the message. Gibson was working that point feverishly.

The question about Georgia was a trick question. If she said we shouldn't use the threat of war, then she'd be called naive for not knowing that NATO requires us to. If, on the other hand, she replies, as she did, acknowledging that commitment, then she can be called a naive chicken hawk who wants to go to war with Russia.

But note in her answer that she mentions meeting with Mikheil Saakashvili, the President of Georgia, yet earlier, when asked if she'd ever met with a head of state of a foreign nation, she replied no. Palin obviously doesn't consider action during her time as a VP candidate as part of her qualification for VP. Note that Obama uses his campaign as "proof" of his executive experience.

Oh and here's a good one: "What if Israel felt threatened and decided to take out the Iranian nuclear facilities?"

Either Gibson is stupid, or assumes his audience is. In 1995 Israel bombed Iraq's Osirak Nuclear "Research" Facility. The result? the world was safer. Saddam Hussein made sure any further development of nuclear weapons was more carefully concealed, almost crippling his efforts. Israel's action allowed us to rid the world of a vermin like Hussein without fear a him have a nuke. Obviously doing the same to Iran would have the same result.

Again Gibson has to ask her the question three times even after she'd clearly answered the question the first time. To Palin's credit she gave the exact same question all three times, almost verbatim, and her body language was showing that she was tiring of his stupidity and condescension.

Then came Sand Bag #1: The Bush Doctrine.

The "Bush Doctrine" is one of those faddish terms coined a few years ago to define Bush's rational for the war in Afghanistan and Iraq. The term "Bush Doctrine" is used primarily by Liberals. So when Gibson sprang the term on Palin, it's natural that she would be unfamiliar with the vocabulary from the ideologically-incestuous vacuum on the political and media elite.

When Gibson finally defined it for her, she answered clearly and concisely, he then proceeded, once more, to ask the same exact question (about cross border attack into Pakistan) three times, pretending she hadn't answered it.

Time for Sand Bag #2.

In part two of the interview, Gibson open with an outright lie, quoting half a sentence from a speech Palin gave at her old church.

When Palin starts, passionately talking about her son going overseas to serve, Gibson shows his antipathy for her by twirling his foot and shuffling his notes.

Apparently feed back about how bad ABC and Charles Gibson looked with their dishonest attempts at interrogating Palin reach them, because the third part of the interview, aired during Nightline, was exceptionally brief.
