If the 35,000+ hits on Google for the search “Obama “civilian national security force” are any indication, the blogosphere is demanding adamantly basic answers to his plans for the civilian military.

In his "A New Era of Service" speech at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, on July 2nd, 2008, Obama states the following:


“We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we have set. We have got to have a Civilian National Security Force that is just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded.“

But according to at least one blogger, all reference to this preposterous statement has been removed from all known transcripts of his speech. Be sure to check out the video before the Obama web-scrubbers get to it.

According to Joseph Farah of WND http://wnd.com/index.php?pageId=69601, mainstream media hasn’t yet taken this up as the big deal that it is, and the Obama campaign (as usual) refuses to answer questions about it.



Well, when the Media wakes up, or when the insular, obfuscation-oriented Obama campaign decides to be forthcoming with any bit of further clarification, here are the questions piling up across the web:



What is the mission and justification of this civilian national security force?
What will their jobs be?
Is he saying that he’s going to create a civilian national security force as strong as the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines combined? The U.S. Army alone has nearly 500,000 troops. That doesn’t count reserves or National Guard. Will this civilian military have the same hardware and equipment as well?
In 2007, the U.S. Defense budget was $439 billion. Will Obama’s Civilian National Security Force have the same budget? Where will the funding come from?
Who would control this civilian military?
Would service be mandatory like his other youth "volunteer" initiatives?
And my favorite question …. isn’t this rather a big deal?!?!?!
