"The Most Important Thing" to End the Abortion Agenda
By Fred Martinez
The Population Research Institute (PRI) has found that Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry are targeting Catholics as well as minorities especially the third world people here and globally according to Ginny Hitchcock, the West Coast Representative of Population Research Institute.
On a worldwide basis, with the encouragement of the conservative members of the US Congress, she said that Steve Mosher and PRI are carrying out wide-ranging field research among Catholic populations in the developing world.
PRI has found that the International Planned Parenthood Federation’s population control is frequently used to "subdue" Catholic populations at the expense of basic aid and economic development.
"We're building on our reputation and relationship with strong pro-life members of Congress, and Catholic leaders abroad, to support human rights and to defend the Catholic faith and the rights of Catholic families throughout the world," PRI President Mosher said.
"In 1997, we began working with the bishops' conference in Peru and with the U.S. Congress to provide first-hand evidence showing a connection between U.S. funding and coercive family planning programs in Peru. We've found the international pro-abortion movement is especially active against Catholics throughout Central and South America and Eastern Europe."
According to Mosher, Catholic women in the United States are also unique targets of the abortion industry. The PRI campaign tells women of their rights under federal law to petition for full information about the physical and psychological consequences of abortion before having the procedure done.
Women’s Right to Full Information Denied by Abortion Industry
"The failure to stop an abortion procedure on request, or even depriving women of their right to full information, can be construed as a denial of a woman's freedom of access to reproductive health," said Mosher.
"We're working with these attorneys to inform more and more Americans of their rights. It's time America does an 'about face' on the abortion industry. Women deserve genuine health and human rights, not violations so routinely committed by the abortion industry."
At the recent PRI Pro-life Conference in Santa Clara, California organized by Hitchcock, Dr. Chris Kahlenborn presented extensive scientific evidence that breast cancer is linked to abortion. The PRI position is that girls and women should be encouraged to sue their abortionist if they were not warned ahead of time of the health dangers of abortion.
Kahlenborn said. "As soon as there comes a woman who has breast cancer who has had an abortion and takes it to court, she‘s got a very strong case. The problem is a lot of young women, when they do get breast cancer, die from it so quickly – because it’s so aggressive when you’re young – they might not make it to court."
Seamless Garment “Pro-Lifers”
For this reason, Hitchcock disagrees with some “pro-lifers” that call suing abortionist an extremist tactic or who put killing of innocent human unborn babies on the same level as such issues as nuclear war or the death penalty. She said, “ The seamless garment has always bothered me...We see, for example, diocesan committees who think they are pro-life when they bring these other issues.”
When asked if the ideological divisions in the pro-life movement were reflected by attacks on her mentor and friend Fr. Paul Marx- a world leader of the pro-life movement- who founded Human Life International. She said that was a matter of ideology and in some cases direction.
“There were ideological splits, too. Fr. Marx was an all or nothing type of person and still is...There are a couple of [Catholic “pro-life“] groups that simply will not talk about contraception and others that will not mention homosexuality,” Hitchcock said, “ Many are afraid the bishops might clamp down on them. So what, we only live once.”
Steve Mosher is the Successor of Fr. Marx
She considers PRI’s Steve Mosher to be the successor of Fr. Marx in his “direction of global thinking.”
Mosher’s international work began in China when he was an agnostic. He saw the forced abortions and tried to get the attention of the liberal American leaders with no results. Finally, Fr. Marx asked him to speak at his conferences. He eventually became a Catholic and head of PRI.
His plan is to fight the culture of abortion on a global basis. In the 1960’s, the “population controller” such as Planned Parenthood first obtained funding from the federal government to promote sterilization, contraception and abortion around the world.
Mosher, according to Hitchcock, wants to do the reverse. To cut the funding of the global “population controllers” by documenting their human right abuses and reporting the evidence to all countries friendly to the culture of life and human rights.
An example of this plan at work is the $34 million that was recently stopped from going to China because of PRI’s investigation of its forced abortion policies using US money. President Bush and the congress looked at the information and sent their own fact finding teams to China, which confirmed the PRI documentation.
After PRI cuts the funding of the “population controllers” internationally, Mosher intends to go after the funding of Planned Parenthood in the US.
The Most Important Way to End the Abortion Agenda
Hitchcock considers this work important towards ending Planned Parenthood’s agenda, but she says this is not the “most important thing“.
She said, “The most important thing is what [the saintly founder of the shrine of Our Lady of Peace in Santa Clara, California] Fr. [John]Sweeny drilled into me. He said if you don’t pray don’t do it at all.”
